HEART OF ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY DONATES ALMOST £500 TO COVENTRY CHARITIES IN LATEST ROUND FROM HELPING HEARTS AWARD SCHEME

Charities and worthy causes across Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire are sharing a slice of £2,185 in the latest round of awards from the Heart of England Co-operative Society.

The money has come from the Society’s Helping Hearts Award Scheme which donates every penny of the retailer’s tobacco profits to charities and worthy causes across its trading area.

Among those in Coventry to benefit in the latest round of awards are children at Stanton Bridge Primary School. The school’s parents council was awarded £250 towards a fundraising event to help pay for school trips and transport to help take the pupils swimming.

Organisers of the St Leonard’s Church Fete in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, received £100 towards the event which this year will be held on June 26th.

And gift vouchers ranging from £25 to £50 went to the Light House Counselling Service, Coventry woman Melanie Whitehead, who is raising funds for Make A Wish, organisers of the Stoke Aldermoor Summer Fete and Wyken Croft Primary School.

Jo Dyke, Community and Membership Adviser at the Heart of England Co-operative Society, said: “Every month we received a good number of applications from a real mix of groups. This month is no exception and of course we were delighted to do what we can to help.

“Eighty-five per cent of the applications were successful. For those who were not successful there is no reason why the same groups should not re-apply when other projects come up. Next time they may be more successful.”

Anyone who would like to make an application for a donation from Helping Hearts can pick up a form from any one of the Society’s branches across Coventry Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
