EXTRA BANK HOLIDAY FOR ROYAL WEDDING LEADS TO RISE IN BOOKINGS AMONG SAVVY WORKERS
Savvy workers in Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire are making the most of the extra day's holiday created by the April 29th wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The news comes from the Heart of England
Co-operative Society - Travel Division, which operates branches in Royal Leamington Spa and Bedworth.
With the Easter break starting on Good Friday, April 22nd, the Royal wedding a week later and the May Day Bank Holiday on Monday, May 2nd, workers need only book three days' annual leave to enjoy an 11-day break.
Caroline Bentley-Showell, Retail and Operations Manager of the Travel Division, said: "We have seen an increase in bookings due to the extra Bank Holiday. Normally at that time of year Egypt and Tunisia are among the busiest destinations but due to the ongoing problems there at the moment our clients have switched to the Canary Islands, Madeira and mainland Spain."
"We have also seen a steep rise in the number of people booking short weekend breaks to London over the actual weekend of the Royal Wedding. I think many are keen to really lap up the atmosphere of the day and even possibly catch a glimpse of the happy couple."
Details of the long-awaited wedding were announced in November. The couple are set to be married at Westminster Abbey by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
For further details on the range of holidays and weekend breaks pop into the branches in Warwick Street, Royal Leamington Spa and High Street, Bedworth. |
