Our Society is a member of the largest independent buying group in the UK, allowing our customers to choose from a full range of products at very competitive prices.
Our successful Electrical departments, trading from eight different locations within our region, stocks a comprehensive range of electrical items, from TVs to toasters and from fridges to food mixers.
As we are able to take full advantage of bulk buying and end of line specials we are able to pass the benefits on to you our members and customers, through promotions and deals.
To offer you the very best we regularly monitor our range of products and add new lines, as technology changes.
In 2011 our state-of-the-art Electronic Point of Sales system, which will give us a full picture, hour by hour, of our stock, will be rolled out to all our stores.
Once fully implemented this hi-tech system will help us identify lines that need replenishing and produce a list of suggestions for orders. It will allow us, with greater efficiency, to ensure we are always well stocked up in our most popular lines and to plan our promotions more effectively, allowing you, our customers, to reap the benefits.
We obtain our furniture and homewares through Associated Independent Stores - which is the largest independent buying group in the UK. Again this allows us to stock a comprehensive range, which we constantly review, at extremely competitive prices. Our stock includes a selection of modern, contemporary and traditional furniture and contrary to the long-held perception our range only appeals to older generations we are seeing an increasing number of younger couples and first time buyers coming into our stores to seek out furniture for their homes.
In November 2010 we opened a brand new Co-operative Home and Living store in Rugby at a cost of £2.95 million and a fully refurbished Home and Living Store in Hinckley, at a cost of £1.9 million.
These exciting and prestigious developments are the first branded Non-Food stores not just within our Society but across the whole of the Co-operative movement. They also come at a time when other Co-operative Societies are holding back on investing – Non-Food investments in general have seen a decline since the onslaught of the recession. Meanwhile our Society has spent a collective £5 million ensuring we provide our loyal customers with the most vibrant of shopping experiences in the decades to come.
The new store in Rugby is our largest financial project to date. A purpose built building within a prestigious new shopping complex the 14,233 sq ft facility, trades over two floors with an escalator and lift for easy customer access. We stock an extremely comprehensive range of domestic kitchen appliances and home entertainment as well as lounge and bedroom furniture and carpets. Leading brands you'll find in our store include Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Indesit, Bosch, Electrolux, Hotpoint, Miele and Zanussi.
Our furniture range encompasses a wide range of fabric and leather upholstery in both modern and traditional styles. We have carefully selected our carpet range to complement the selection of furniture. With both branded and exclusive ranges we stock styles to suit all tastes.
Our Hinckley store has been given a real makeover. All four floors have been given a fresh, clean new look. We now have an extensive electrical department which sits on the lower ground floor alongside travel. We also have an impressive furniture department, a café, and wide selections of housewares, floor coverings, gifts, fashions and menswear.
The Hinckley store is proud to have marked another 'first' as it is believed to be the first store in the town to have an escalator!
Headed by General Manager Bryan Wheatley, our Non-Food Division employs around 250 people and operates out of eight locations. We also have a large distribution centre handling about 25,000 deliveries per year. It includes three department stores, eight electrical departments, six furniture departments, four carpet departments, one toy department, three gift departments, two nursery
departments, three cafes and two
menswear / fashion departments.
