Our corporate charity 2016 – Guide Dogs
The Heart of England Co-operative has nominated Guide Dogs as its chosen charity for 2016.
Over the next 12 months staff across the retailer’s trading divisions will take part in a whole host of fundraising activities to help the charity to improve the lives of thousands of blind and partially sighted in the UK.
Liz Gilbert, community fundraiser with the Guide Dogs’ Central Team said with every penny coming from public donation and fundraising events the support of the Heart of England Co-operative is vital.
Money raised for the charity will go towards general costs which on average reach £5,000 per puppy in its first year – including breeding and training – and £50,000 for the lifetime of a dog.
Liz said “Every hour another person in the UK goes blind. When someone loses their sight, the charity Guide Dogs is here to make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well.”
Ali Kurji, Chief Executive of Heart of England Co-operative Society, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the charity Guide Dogs which provides a crucial service for those with little or no sight.”
