COVID-19

Dear Customers

We are working through one of the most challenging times in our long history.

We wanted to update you on what we’re doing to keep our colleagues safe, and to ensure regular information is available to you, on our Society and stores.

We are immensely proud of the efforts of everyone involved in this Society, and how everyone has come together to support the communities we serve.

We wanted to summarise the changes we have made.

As of Saturday 28th March our store opening hours will be Monday – Sunday 8am - 8pm, with the exception of our larger stores, Sunday opening will be 10am - 4pm. This will allow us to replenish stock, make sure the store is clean and give our hard working colleagues a well earned rest.

Providing food and essentials to our customers, members and colleagues.
  • To ensure more people have access to everyday essentials we have placed a restriction of 2 items per customer on all products.
  • We ask that all our existing customers think about their elderly and vulnerable neighbours and if they are able to help with picking up essential groceries, please speak with the store manager and they will assist where they can.
  • To allow our colleagues to focus on replenishment of essential groceries we have closed our in store bakery.
  • All vending operations in store have been suspended due to the increased risk of contamination.
  • The sale of Lotto and Scratch Cards has been suspended, with the exception of Lucky Dips. We will not be issuing winnings on any National Lottery Platform.
  • Store managers will close off aisles in order to complete replenishment, please respect any markers that are put in place.
Keeping our customers, members and colleagues safe
  • We are implementing social distancing measures in all our stores, including the distance around tills and checkout areas, in the aisles, the working distances between our team members and the queueing areas, outside and in.
  • To make serving customers swifter and reduce the possibility of infection we invite customers who can, to pay by card, contactless or self-scanning till.
  • Store Managers will limit the flow of customers coming into store to eliminate congestion, in line with the size of store.
  • We have installed protective Perspex screens at all kiosk tills
Supporting our colleagues
  • We are fully supporting all of our colleagues which are giving 100% at this difficult time, benefits are being distributed to recognise the fantastic measures all of our employees are going to.
  • Our store teams have been equipped with gloves and masks for their discretionary use.
  • To support our team we have appointed temporary colleagues.
We want to thank all of our customers, members and colleagues and suppliers for your continued support. We know these are some big changes, but we will get through this as long as we continue to work together. Thank you all and keep safe
